Maxime is a partner at our firm since 2007. He is a member of our litigation team since the foundation of the firm in January 2001.
Maxime has acted in a number of prominent class actions and has developed solid expertise in this field. He has been involved in the two biggest settlements in the history of Canadian securities class action (international settlements valued at more than two billion dollars in Association de protection des épargnants et investisseurs du Québec (APEIQ) v. Nortel Networks Corporation 500-06-000126-017 and Skarstedt v. Nortel Networks Corporation 500-06-000277-059). Maxime also co-led our litigation team in the first Quebec file to expressly recognize the possibility to bring a class action for the benefit of a national class (Brito v. Pfizer Canada inc. et al. 500-06-000305-058). He is also one of the few Quebec lawyers who has argued and won an authorized class action on the merit (Binette v. Syndicat des chauffeures et chauffeurs de la Corporation métropolitaine de Sherbrooke, section locale 3434 du SCFP 450-06-000001-028).
Maxime also takes an interest in commercial and shareholders litigation. He has argued cases before trial courts and the Quebec Court of Appeal, as well as the Federal Court.
Maxime authored articles and served as speaker at seminars on securities and consumers class actions.
