Class action

Class actions were commenced in Québec, British-Columbia and Ontario, on behalf of residents of Canada, alleging that certain LIB manufacturers and their related entities conspired to fix the prices of LIBs, and that this resulted in consumers, businesses, and other purchasers paying too much for LIBs and certain LIB Products purchased in Canada.

LIBs batteries are a type of rechargeable batteries used in electronic products. These batteries are sold separately or within consumer electronic products.

Settlements totalling CDN$21.3 million were reached with all defendants. The settlement agreements have received court approval in Ontario and Québec. The settlement agreements resolve the litigation in full.

The Claims and Distribution Period for the settlement amounts took place from 2021 to 2023.

The case is now closed.
