Class action

In July 2002, a class action was instituted on behalf of Société de transport de Sherbrooke public transit users against the Syndicat des chauffeures et chauffeurs de la STS. The action followed an unexpected strike by members on the morning of June 12, 2002, during which STS drivers caught users by surprise by interrupting the public transit service during the morning rush hour. Thousands of users were left to their own devices on the city sidewalks when it was raining.

On January 9, 2003, the class action was authorized. In February 2004, after hearing the case on the merits, the Court granted the class action and ordered the Syndicat to pay $100,000 in damages.
