Class action

In September 2015, Option consommateurs instituted a class action on behalf of a group of owners and lessees of Volkswagen and Audi vehicles in the wake of the TDI engine scandal.

In 2017 and 2018, settlement agreements were approved by the Canadian courts. These agreements provided benefits assessed at $1.664 billion. It was the largest financial settlement in the history of Canadian consumer law.

The distribution of amounts to class members has now been completed.
