Guy-Philippe Bouchard, a member of the Quebec Bar since 2011, joined Belleau Lapointe in 2020.
Guy-Philippe counts on a solid experience in civil and commercial litigation, notably in construction and insurance law. He represents general and mechanical contractors in civil actions of varying degrees of complexity.
Having practised in a multidisciplinary setting with various insurance professionals, Guy-Philippe developed a specialty in denial of coverage and claim management.
Guy-Philippe has pleaded before all civil tribunals in the province of Quebec and a vast array of its administrative instances.
Prior to studying law, Guy-Philippe graduated from the faculty of science of McGill University, with degrees in Physics and North American History. He thus finds himself at home in files which require a degree of scientific or technical expertise.
Represented general contractors and real estate developers in matters of denial of coverage from their insurers.
Represented a general contractor and a property developer in an insurance matter which lead to a landmark decision of the Quebec Court of Appeal on an insurer’s obligation of defence : Développement les Terrasses de l’île inc. et al. v. Intact, compagnie d’assurances, 2019 QCCA 1440 (leave to appeal denied, S.C.C. 09-04-2020, 38895).
Represented mechanical contractors in several litigious files pertaining to design, construction and production of the work.
Represented real estate owners in various hidden defect matters.
