Option consommateurs filed a class action against Google LLC alleging that Google LLC is collecting and using the personal information of web users for commercial purposes without their prior and sufficient consent.

The class action seeks a judgment ordering Google LLC to pay members of the proposed class an amount equal to the value of the personal information collected without their consent. The action further seeks payment by Google LLC of $50 million in punitive damages.

You are a member of the Class if you have used any service offered by Google LLC that does not require a Google Account, such as Google Search or Google Maps, or if you have browsed a website using any of the tools offered by Google LLC, such as Google Analytics, Google Ad Manager or the “Sign in with Google” button.

On June 22, 2020, Option consommateurs filed an Application for Authorization to Institute a Class Action.

The class action is currently at the authorization stage.

The Application for Authorization to Institute a Class Action is scheduled to be heard on June 7, 2022.
