Class action

In February 2005, Option consommateurs instituted a class action on behalf of every person who purchased polychloroprene (PCP) in Québec and paid an artificially inflated price due to a PCP price-fixing agreement. Option consommateurs alleged that certain product manufacturers conspired to unduly restrict competition and unreasonably increase the price.

In November 2005 and May 2007, the Court approved the settlement agreements reached by the parties. These settlement agreements provided that class members were entitled to benefit from a fund created and totalling in excess of $1.2 million.

The distribution of amounts to the class members has now been completed and this file is closed.
